Secretary of State (Deputy Minister)

H.E. Mr. PAK Sokhom has been holding the position of Secretary of State of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia since 2013. He has been assigned to develop the academic curriculum for tourism officials, to train officials in tourism skill, to facilitate the development of the Battambang tourist area and its environs, and to develop historical, cultural, heritage, spiritual and religious tourist products.

H.E. Mr. PAK Sokhom was awarded the Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration in Phnom Penh Capital, Cambodia, in 2006. He was awarded the Master’s Degree in Political Science in Phnom Penh Capital, Cambodia, in 2007. He studied French and English at Tuol Svay Prey High School in Phnom Penh Capital, Cambodia, from 1970 to 1973, and he studied English at Phnom Penh University in Phnom Penh Capital, Cambodia, from 1973 to 1975. Today he can speak three languages: Khmer, French and English.

H.E. Mr. PAK Sokhom has 34-year professional experience of tourism. From 1989 to 1990, he used to work as an official for the Department of Technique, General Directorate of Tourism. From 1990 to 1992, he used to work as Deputy Chief of the Tourism Service Office at the Department of Technique, General Directorate of Tourism. From 1992 to 1993, he used to work as Chief of the Tourism Service Office at the Department of Technique, General Directorate of Tourism. From 1993 to 1997, he used to work as Chief of the Office of Marketing and Promotion at the Department of Developmental Planning, Ministry of Tourism. From 1997 to 2008, he used to work as Director of the Department of Marketing and Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism. Notably speaking from 2008 to 2013, he used to work as Under-Secretary of State of Tourism.

H.E. Mr. PAK Sokhom has a lot of experience in international travelling and touring exhibitions and international trade fairs, particularly the China-ASEAN Expo. He has worked as Deputy Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Organizing International Trade Fairs and World Expositions since 2016.

Moreover, H.E. Mr. PAK Sokhom has experience in cultural and art preservation. He has worked as a member of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Coordinating, Evaluating and Controlling Khmer Antiquities for International Exhibitions.

Through the great efforts of H.E. Mr. PAK Sokhom, he won lots of decorations and medals, particularly Medal of National Merit or “Cheatopaka Medal” – the top-class one – awarded by H.M. Preah Bat Samdech Preah Baromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
