Blended Finance and Regional Development for Developing Countries
Blended Finance and Regional Development for Developing Countries

Blended finance is the strategic use of development finance for the mobilization of additional funding towards sustainable development in developing countries which can accelerate and expand available capital needed to achieve the SDGs and finance longer-term investments. However, many developing countries currently lack a framework required to increase the use of such blended finance. According to a report, an estimated investment of $300-$400 billion is needed to preserve and restore ecosystems, of which only $52 billion is being invested in such projects. How can blended finance bridge the investment gap for the SDG goals? How does it work to ensure better returns for investors?
