In 2013, three main Asian film festivals, including the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) and the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), joined together to create the non-profit organization, the Asian Film Awards Academy (the "AFA Academy"), which aims to promote and develop Asian cinema and its talents. The AFA Academy highlights, strengthens and develops Asian film industry and culture through the annual Asian Film Awards (the "Awards").

The 12th Asian Film Awards (12AFA) is to celebrate the excellence of Martial Arts in Asian cinema, not only by recognizing many outstanding Asian filmmakers and providing a platform for new faces and promising artists, but also through our Jury President, Mr. CHING Siu-tung, the award-winning and highly respected Hong Kong film director and action choreographer. 12AFA is also honored by that Ms. Carina LAU, the acclaimed actress, has joined us as Celebrity Juror.
