Gordon Tam studied architecture and interior design at Washington State University in the United States. In 2012, he received a master's degree in sustainable urban development from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Farm66 was established in 2013 to implement the feasibility of fully environmentally controlled indoor vertical farming factory in Hong Kong. During the period, he successfully developed through patented in-house innovations, such as “Multi-layer Vertical Planting (MVP) structure”, “Soilless Hydroponics Farming (SHF) techniques”, “Indoor Aquaponics Farming Eco-system (IAFE)”, “Energy-efficient LED Wavelength Farming”, “Cloud-based Farming Parameters (CFP) monitoring” and “Modular Agricultural Robotic System (MARS)”. Actively leading the team to research and innovate urban agriculture technology 4.0 and fully automated farming container to overseas markets. It has received support from the public and won multiple awards. He won the Hong Kong Industry Award for Equipment and System Design Award and Technology Achievement Award. He won the JUMPSTARTER global entrepreneurship competition grand prize in 2017 by Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund. In 2021, his company was successfully selected into Forbes Asia's "100 Companies to Watch in the Asia-Pacific Region in 2021." Over the years, he has been invited by hundreds of companies, schools and social enterprises to give lectures on agricultural scientific research and environmental protection ESG, and has been interviewed by local and overseas media hundreds of times. In 2016, he was appointed as a member of the Agricultural Park Construction Advisory Committee for Hong Kong Government’s project. In 2021, he was elected as a member of the Fisheries and Agriculture Sector Election Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. In 2023, he was selected as the Founder of the Year and Tech Impact Company of the Year by the Revive Tech Asia Awards.
