Atty. Ana Maria Paz R. Banaag originally hails from Natonin and Paracelis, Mt. Province. An epitome of empowered woman, Atty. Banaag possesses several feathers in her cap, proving that possibilities are endless when a country recognizes its women’s capacity to contribute to development and nation building.

After obtaining her degree in Political Science at Saint Louis University, she pursued higher education in the field of law and eventually passed the Philippine Bar Examination in 2007.

In 2007, Atty. Banaag entered the field of public service by running for the mayoral race in the local elections of Natonin, Mt. Province. She won the elections and served as Municipal Mayor of Natonin, Mt. Province from 2007 to 2010.

Atty. Banaag continued her stint in the public service by becoming a Graft Investigation and Prosecution Officer of the Ombudsman from 2010 to 2016. While performing as Investigation and Prosecution Officer, she pursued her Masters of Law (Major in Governance and Development) degree in Australian National University where she graduated in 2015.

Remaining true to her ethnicity as a member of the Balangao and Ga’dang tribes and utilizing her higher education for social improvement, Atty. Banaag launched the Specialized Module for Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Cultural Communities, a corruption prevention mechanism to be implemented by the Community Coordination Bureau of the Public Assistance and Corruption Prevention Office of the Office of the Ombudsman.

Atty. Banaag is currently the Assistant Secretary for Operations and Special Concerns of the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
